Russia: West should stop pressing Syria on feeble excuses

Tehran, Aug 25, IRNA – Russia criticized the United States, the United Kingdom and France over feeble excused like using chemical weaponry, said the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement published on Saturday.

Referring to the West's attempt to use the non-proliferation treaty for determining the responsible party, the statement wanted the so-called defenders of the Syrian interests to stop using the chemical issue to pressure Damascus and its allies.

The statement also said the in the fifth anniversary of the tragedy of chemical use in Eastern Ghouta, the three Western members of the UN Security Council issued a statement and accused the legal government of Syria to have used the chemical weaponry.

About one thousand people died in the attack. The West tried to use it to defame the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, but the allies of Syria believe it was the terrorists that made the tragedy.

The statement wrote that it has been clear for independent observers since long ago that Daesh and other terrorists are behind such attacks.

All the attempts made by the West about the chemical attack are in direct relation with their geopolitical goals in the Middle East, added the statement.
