Death toll from airstrikes on Yemen rises to 52

Tehran, Aug 9, IRNA – Yemeni Ministry of Health announced on Thursday that death toll from Saudi-led coalition’s airstrikes on Saada province has risen to 52.

Saudi Arabian fighters targeted a bus carrying children in the city of Zahyan, Saada province, leaving 77 wounded, the ministry quoted Ansarullah website as saying.

Spokesman for Ansarullah Movement Mohammad Abdulsalam condemned the attacks, saying that aggressors demonstrated their humiliation and contempt by justifying their crimes.

Meanwhile, British envoy to the UN has also called for probe into the crime.

The coalition said it targeted the rebels, known as Houthis, because they had fired a missile at the kingdom's south the previous day, killing one person.

Turki al-Malki , coalition spokesman, said Thursday's attack in Saada is a 'legitimate military action' and was carried out 'in accordance with international humanitarian law and customs.' He accused the Houthis of using children as shields in the battlefields.
