In its statement which was released on the occasion of Khorramshahr Liberation Day, IRGC said that the former Iraqi dictator's destiny is awaiting the enemies if they attack the country.
The IRGC's statement stressed the elevation of country's deterrence and defensive power to prevent enemies' surprise attack.
The Liberation of Khorramshahr was Iran's recapture of the port city of Khorramshahr from the Iraqis on May 24, 1982, during the Iran–Iraq War. The Iraqis had captured the city early in the war on October 28, 1980. It is perceived as a turning-point in the war and the liberation is celebrated in Iran on its anniversary, May 24.
