US ex-president warns against dangers of Trump's JCPOA decision

Tehran, May 12, IRNA – Former US President George W. Bush, Jr., has warned against the isolation dangers US is exposed to after President Donald Trump withdrew his country from the Iran Deal.

“America is indispensable for the world and the dangers of isolation loom,' Bush said on Friday at an awards ceremony hosted by the Atlantic Council, a nonpartisan foreign policy think tank.

He is among former US officials who have been critical of Trump's administration foreign policy.

With the pretext of fighting terrorism, Bush attacked Iraq (2003) and Afghanistan (2001), and imposed trillions of dollars of damage to the US economy. The two wars left hundreds of thousands of people in the region dead or injured.

Trump announced on Tuesday that the US is no longer a part of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which is considered the biggest achievement of diplomacy by many politicians.

The JCOPA, better known as Iran Deal, is an agreement reached and signed after 12 years of negotiations. The accord was signed by Iran, the permanent members of the UN Security Council, Germany and the EU. Later the UNSC confirmed the deal unanimously.
