Rouhani congratulates Iran Jr. taekwondo team’s world championship

Tehran, April 14, IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani in a message on Friday night congratulated Iran’s junior taekwondo team on their impressive victory in 2018 World Junior Taekwondo Championships which was held in Tunisia on April 4-13.

According to Presidential Office website, the president underlined that such prideful shining, hoisting of the Iranian flag and playing of the national anthem across the world sent a wave of joy and hope to every Iranian house and heralded conquering more peaks in the future.

The crushing victory of the Iranian junior taekwondo team in World Championships in Tunisia made every Iranian happy, especially the dear youths of the Islamic homeland, the message said.

“I congratulate the dear nation of Iran on the valuable victory and appreciate the coaches and industrious taekwondo fighters,” he said, wishing success for all Iranian athletes, the youth and young adults in particular.

Iran’s junior taekwondo team won seven gold and two bronze medals, ranking first in the 12th World Championships in Tunisia.

The event attended by 950 athletes from 118 countries including Iran ended on Friday.

Iranian junior taekwondo fighters Hossein Lotfi, Amir Valipour, Amir Sina Bakhtiari, Hamed Asghari, Mohammad Mehdi Emadi, Ali Eshkevarian and Mohammad Ali Khosravi won gold medals while Erfan Moradi and Nima Mehr Ali grabbed bronze medals in the prestigious event.

South Korea came second with one gold, one silver and two bronze medals, while Turkey stood third with one gold and two silver medals.
