Croatian PM hails Iran's efforts for regional stability

Tehran, March 1, IRNA- Iran is of a great influence in the Middle East, trying for stability in the region, Croatia's Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said on Thursday.

During a meeting with Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Croatian prime minister evaluated the two countries' relations as satisfying.

'In recent years, good steps have been taken for boosting cooperation between the two countries, especially in the economic and trade spheres that need to be continued and promoted,' he said.

The Iranian foreign minister, for his part, said that his country is interested in deepening bilateral relations with Croatia in all fields.

He said that Halal tourism, energy, agriculture, food industry, high technologies, and banking are among the main spheres of cooperation between the two countries.

Zarif also emphasized the importance of boosting bilateral cooperation in regional and international organizations and communities, including in the European Union.

The Iranian minister, heading a politico-economic delegation, left Tehran for a visit to four Eastern European countries on Monday.

Zarif has visited Serbia and Bulgaria and arrived in Zagreb on Wednesday at the third leg of his tour of Balkans and Eastern Europe which will also take him to Bosnia-Herzegovina.

A high-ranking trade delegation comprising economic activists and entrepreneurs from private and public sectors are accompanying Zarif during his four-day tour.
