Iran NOC lashes out at Samsung

Tehran, Feb 8, IRNA – Iran's head of National Olympic Committee said that it has reacted to the 'unethical and unprofessional' move by Samsung company in the Olympic Winter Games 2018.

PyeongChang Olympic organizers won't provide North Korean and Iranian players with Samsung smart phones, which are available free to all other athletes, for fear of violating international sanctions on the countries, South Korea's Yonhap news agency quoted officials as saying on Wednesday.

Reza Salehi Amiri in a post on social networks said: Iran's official objection to the South Korean ambassador to Tehran, contacting the Foreign Minister and asking for summoning the ambassador, as it was echoed in Foreign Ministry statement, were among the main steps to react to the move by Samsung company.

'We won't keep silent in face of insults to our national pride, identity and dignity,' he said.

South Korea Winter Olympics will start in the northeastern city of Pyeongchang as of Friday (February 9). Samsung is one of its main sponsors.
