Head of Track and Field Federation of Iran Majid Kayhani in inaugural ceremony welcomed all athletics, coaches, and heads of federations from Asia and expressed pleasure for being host to the competitions in 2018.
President of Asia Track and Field Confederation Dahlan al-Hamad expressed gratitude for Iran as host of the 8th Asian Indoor Athletics Championships, and said that this is the third time Iran is hosting the competitions.
Al-Hamad wished success for all athletics, and expressed the hope to witness high quality competitions in Iran.
The 8th Asian Indoor Athletics Championships, slated for February 1-3, began in Tehran on Thursday with participation of 360 athletics from 22 countries .
