Russian Expert urges consulting Iran, Turkey to solve Syrian issue

Sochi, Jan 31, IRNA - Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences stressed on the importance of having ties with Iran and Turkey to resolve the Syrian crisis.

It is very important for Iran, Russia and Turkey to have no dispute, Vitaliy Vyacheslavovich Naumkin told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Tuesday night.

He made the remarks on the sidelines of Syria National Dialogue Congress held in the Russian resort city of Sochi.

Naumkin also referred to the Kurds' issues, urging for adopting a unified position to solve it.

Syria National Dialogue Congress will motivate Geneva talks, Naumkin noted.

The meeting was attended by delegates from the Syrian government and opposition. Iranian, Russian and Turkish delegations as well as UN special envoy for Syrian affairs Stefan de Mistura also took part in the meeting.

The participants of the congress also requested the UN Secretary-General to assign the Special Envoy for Syria for the assistance of the Constitutional Committee work in Geneva.
