Archbishop: Holy Quds never was Jews' capital

Tehran, Jan 30, IRNA – Armenian archbishop of Tehran Sebouh Sarkissian said on Tuesdday that for Muslims, Christians and Jews, Beit-ul-Moqaddas (Holy Quds) is a historical place worth to be respected.

'Throughout history, Beit-ul-Moqaddas (alos known as Jerusalem) has never been the capital of the Jews,' said Sarkissian in a press conference in Tehran on Tuesday.

'At any juncture, all have the duty to serve and worship God as you know, these days, the world of Islam and the Arab world face great calamities and challenges and the main reason for the issue is the indecent claims of the US President on transfer of Israel capital to Beit-ul-Moqaddas,' said the archbishop.

'Such claims stem from misunderstanding and wrong attitude towards the Palestinian nation and Beit-ul-Moqaddas has never been Israel capital; and all should know that throughout history, (prophets) Solomon and David designated the city of Saihoon as their capital.

Elsewhere in the interview, he said Iran has been the only Islamic country to take side with the Palestinian people and defend Palestine's territorial integrity.

Iran has always respected Jews and Muslims and thanks to the Islamic Republic, the country's policy on Palestine has always been just. 'Those are enemy of peace and friendship of nations who look at realities with black eyeglasses.'
