Experience of countries in natural disasters should be used

Tehran, Jan 30, IRNA – The UNDP expert Rajesh Sharma says the natural disaster expertise of other countries should be benefited from and put at the disposal of others.

Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on the sidelines of the second session of the Governing Council of Asian and Pacific Centre for the Development of Disaster Information Management (APDIM), Sharma said that information of natural disasters should be registered in countries and collected in the data bases.

He said this way, the data on natural disasters of the countries can be analyzed and its impact on the communities sustaining damage as a result of natural disasters to be examined.

Sharma added that it's for several years that natural disasters such as quake, landslide, flood and other events take place and most countries worldwide address the situation.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he referred to Iran's experience in natural disasters, and said it has been subject to many quakes. It should be known how these states have been successful to check similar conditions and hence put their experience at the disposal of other countries, Sharma added.
