Armed drug dealers gangs in Kerman smashed: Prosecutor

Kerman, Jan 30, IRNA – Several major armed rings of drug trafficers have been destroyed and 22 vehicles of international drug smugglers were seized in the southeaster province of Kerman, said the province's general and revolutionary prosecutor on Monday night.

'About 60 bank accounts used by drug trafficers rings, with their 110 billion rials (around $2.5m) savings, as well as 27 land properties have been confiscated,' said Dadkhoda Salari.

'Several major rings, including international ones, have been identified and their leaders arrested in gunfights within the past few months in special operations carried out by intelligence and legal authorities,' Salari added.

'About 60 percent of the drugs sumggled into the country from the eastern borders, and almost all major groups of drug traffickers which are not domestic, pass through Kerman Province,' Salari said.

Kerman Province borders five other provinces including Southern Khorasan and Sistan-Baluchestan, which have long borders with Afghanistan and Pakistan making Kerman the mainroad of drug smaggling.
