ICRC slams US act to block Palestinian refugees’ budget

Tehran, Jan 27, IRNA – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) criticized the US measure to block the budget of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) for Palestinian refugees.

Any negligence in sending humanitarian aids to Occupied Palestine will result in reducing the capacities of humanitarian bodies to fulfill Palestinians’ needs, according to ICRC.

The United States Department of State last week blocking 65 million dollars of the $125m humanitarian aids to Palestinians refugees announced that giving more aids depends on fundamental modifications by UNRWA.

Created in December 1949, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) is a relief and human development agency which supports more than 5 million registered Palestinian refugees, and their descendants, who fled or were expelled from their homes during the 1948 Palestine war as well as those who fled or were expelled during and following the 1967 Six Day war.
