Iran's 'Sara and Ayda'' awarded at Jaipur festival

Tehran, Jan 23, IRNA - Iranian film 'Sara and Ayda' won the Best Film from Asian Continent award at the 10th Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF).

Directed by renowned filmmaker Maziar Miri, the film competed in the Feature Fiction Film category of the Indian festival, jiffindia.org wrote.

Miri's film drags the friendship between two girls into serious challenge and puts their relations on trial in the face of a problem.

Internationally distributed by Farabi Cinema Foundation, the film participated in Sheed Persian Film Festival and Casa Asia Film Festival (Spain).

In Feature Fiction Film category, Best Film from European Continent award went to 'Marriage', directed by Katerina Philppou-Curtis (the UK), while Best Film from the American Continent award was presented to 'Bernard and Huey' directed by Dan Mirvish (the US).

In Short Documentary Film category, Best Documentary Film award was bagged by 'Teta' by Alexandra Hidalgo from the United States.

Jaipur International Film Festival, the world's fastest growing film festival, is held every year in January or February in Jaipur, India.

Launched in January 2009, JIFF became expanding establishing name in organizing world film festival every year in Rajasthan.

The objective of this film festival is to promote new movie makers, exchange of knowledge, information, ideas and culture between India and other nations in context of their social and cultural ethos. JIFF also promotes friendship and co-operation among people of the world through the medium of films and documentaries.

Though film festivals have become a regular affair in most countries yet most of them cater only for selected audience as well as entertain the commercially successful film makers and related personalities. However, JIFF intends to organize a festival that connects the film fans and movie goers with the world, especially the serious filmmakers and their associates to bring about greater understanding of the art of filmmaking.
