Speaker calls for expansion of parliamentary ties with Guinea-Bissau

Tehran, Jan 21, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Sunday that Iran is to broaden relations with the African countries and believes that expansion of parliamentary cooperation with Guinea-Bissau will lead to the expansion of relations between the two countries.

Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Guinea Bissau, Cipriano Cassamá, in Tehran on Sunday.

During the meeting, Larijani thanked and expressed satisfaction over the presence of Guinean parliamentary delegation at the 13th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC member-states (PUIC), and expressed the hope that the visit will help broaden economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries.

Guinea-Bissau's parliament speaker, for his part, voiced satisfaction over his visit to Iran, and said he believes that the Iranian parliament speaker can help broaden relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Guinea-Bissau is ready to expand economic and parliamentary cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran, he said.

The parliament speaker of Guinea-Bissau also expressed the hope that expansion of commercial and economic cooperation will be witnessed between the two sides.

Guinea-Bissau parliamentary delegation attended Iran's Majlis open session on Sunday.

Guinea-Bissau parliament Speaker Cipriano Cassamá, heading a high-ranking delegation, paid tribute to the Founder of the Islamic Republic late Imam Khomeini at his mausoleum in southern Tehran on Sunday.

Cassamá paid tribute to late Imam by laying a wreath of flowers at his tomb.

Cassamá and his entourage travelled to Iran to attend the 13th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC member states (PUIC) and the related meetings which was held on January 13-17 in Tehran.
