Barzani’s Iran tour to revive Kurdistan market: Kurdish official

Erbil, Jan 21, IRNA - Semi-autonomous Kurdistan region's Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani's trip to Iran will have good achievements for reviving Iraqi Kurdistan market, Kurdish official said.

Thanks to the current trip, Iranian officials encouraged Erbil and Baghdad to solve disputes, the spokesperson of the Kurdistan Investors' Union Mala Yaseen told local media.

Solving differences between Erbil and Baghdad will result in developing trade ties between Iraqi Kurdistan and other areas, he said.

Iran-Iraqi Kurdistan trade relations will increase and KRG oil will enter global market through Iran, Yasin added.

More attention will be paid to border areas of Iran and Iraqi Kurdistan and new border markets like ‘Siranband’ in Baneh and Keyli in Sardasht will be opened, he said.

Barzani arrived in Tehran last night for talks with high-ranking Iranian officials.

Prior to his visit to Iran, Barzani traveled to Baghdad where he met Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.
