Minister: UN helps more Afghans to return

Tehran, Jan 21, IRNA – Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said on Sunday that the UN's help for refugees in Iran is trivial, so it is necessary to allocate more helps and have more cooperation for Afghans to return to their country.

He made the remarks in foreign citizens' organizing commission meeting.

Fazli said that data and information concerning legal foreign citizens in Iran should be updated in several phases annually.

Director General for foreign citizens and immigrants affairs of the Interior Ministry Ahmad Mohammadi-far in his report to the meeting said that over past 4 years around 2.5 million illegal foreign citizens have been identified and repatriated to their countries.

He also added that since the beginning of this year (March 21, 2017) around 630,000 illegal foreign citizens have been identified and returned back.

Establishment of health insurance for 229,000 vulnerable refugees and issuing educational authorization for 172,000 illegal pupils in the past 3 years in accordance with the supreme leader's decree, were among other issues explained in the meeting.
