Taliban kill 18 civilians in Balkh

Kabul, Jan 21, IRNA – A terrorist attack by the hardline Taliban militia group in Balkh town, north Afghanistan, left 18 civilians dead, Sholgara District governor said on Sunday.

The attack was directed against a local gathering on Saturday night, Serajuddin Abid told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Sunday, holding the Taliban terrorists responsible for the deadly attack.

However no group has yet claimed the responsibility of the attack.

In the wake of escalation of tensions between Presidency and Governor's Office over the resignation of the Governor of Balkh Province Atta Muhammad Nur, Balkh has been in better security conditions compared with other provinces.
