Container load, unload in Bandar Lengeh increases by 4 times

Bandar Abbas, Jan 20, IRNA – Director for Ports and Maritime Office of Bandar Lengeh port city in Hormuzgan province, said on Saturday that 2,661 TEU Containers have been loaded and unloaded in this port since March 20, 2017.

Qassem Askari-nasab said that since March 20, 2017, the loading and unloading process has witnessed a 307-percent rise or four times.

He told reporters that in the first nine months of the current year, 944,481 tons of goods were loaded and unloaded in the port, of which 943,866 tons were non-oil goods and 615 tons were oil products.

Askari-nasab said that non-oil goods transit volume in the first nine months of the year was 123,592 tons, which showed 118 percent increase in comparison with the same period of the preceding year.

The director said in this period of time 641,964 tons of non-oil goods were exported from the port, which showed 64-percent increase in comparison with the corresponding period of the year before.

Bandar Lengeh as the most main port in west of Hormuzgan province is supporting operation of goods transit, export and import activities as well as cabotage.

Its geographical and marine transport of the port turned it to the best supporting terminal for Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf.

Bandar Lengeh located in 240 kilometers west of Bandar Abbas, capital of Hormozgan province.
