Sunni leader warns against enemy's anti-Iran plots

Zahedan, Jan 20, IRNA - Enemies are trying to provoke unrest and instability in the country, said the Friday Prayer leader in the Iranian city of Zahedan, warning against divisions among Muslims.

'The problems and frustrations faced by the Islamic Ummah today are the outcome of disputes among Mulims,' Molavi Abdol Hamid told the worshippers during the Friday Prayer sermon in the capital of southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan.

Molavi Abdol Hamid urged Muslims to try to deny the enemies any chance to foment disarray among them.

'Muslims, regardless of their nationality, are all equal and they should do away with sectarian issues and hold fast, all together, by the rope of Allah and do not consider themselves to be superior to others.'

The Iranian Sunni leader also urged Muslim heads of state and religious leaders and scholars in the Islamic nations to avoid religious sectarianism.

Molavi Abdol Hamid praised Iran as a nation where a variety of ethnic and religious groups are living together. 'We are all Iranians enjoying a common national and territorial identity,' he stressed.
