Iran's Qeshm eying aviation ties with Spain

Madrid, Jan 19, IRNA – Head of Iran's Qeshm free trade zone has launched talks with senior officials of Spain's Air Nostrum with the goal of cooperation for the CRJ planes' maintenance.

Hamidreza Momeni, who heads a delegation on a visit to Spain and its airliner Air Nostrum, has toured the company's maintenance hangars.

Qeshm free trade zone has been pursuing a deal with the Canadian aerospace company Bombardier for purchasing 25 CRJ900 commercial aircrafts, with the goal of launching the airliner Fly Qeshm.

Two years after the negotiations, Bombardier has recently announced its agreement on delivering 10 planes in 5 seasons.

Air Nostrum, founded in Valencia in 1994, is now operating as a franchisee of Iberia Airlines, Spain's flag carrier airline, as Iberia Regional.

Qeshm with an area of 500 km is an Island in Persian Gulf and one of the tourism attractions of Iran.
