Iran, Spain discuss tourism cooperation

Madrid, Jan 18, IRNA – Head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Ali Asghar Mounesan explored avenues for promoting cooperation in the tourism sector with director of Spanish Tourism Companies Joan Gaspart.

During a meeting on the sidelines of the International Tourism Exhibition in Madrid, both officials also discussed presence of foreign companies active in hotel building, hoteleering and tourism-related services in Iran.

Mounesan who is in Madrid to attend the prestigious exhibition ‘Fitur’ referred to Iran’s cultural tourism attractions and highlighted the country’s 7,000-year-old civilization and history.

He also commented on Iran’s plans to attract foreign investors in a bid to develop tourism infrastructure and pave the way for attracting 20 million tourists each year in the upcoming eight years.

He also invited Spanish companies to enter Iran’s market.

Gaspart, for his part, expressed interest in Iran’s ancient history and civilization, voicing his readiness to visit Iran to discuss Spanish companies’ presence in Iranian tourism industry.
An Iranian delegation comprising representatives of the public and private sectors is participating in the International Tourism Exhibition.

Iran’s pavilion in the ongoing event has been well received by professional visitors from various countries.
