EU reputation interwoven with keeping Iran Deal: Envoy

Belgrade, Jan 18, IRNA – Iran's ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina has warned European parties against withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal saying, the reputation of the European Union is interwoven with maintaining the nuclear accord.

Appearing on the Aljazeera Balkans TV channel in Sarajevo recently, Mahmoud Heidari described the July 2015 nuclear deal, known as the JCPOA, as an international document safeguarded by the UN Security Council resolution.

In fact, violating the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) is tantamount to violating a resolution by the United Nations Security Council, Heidari said.

He went on to denounce measures taken by US President Donald Trump and his administration against Iran.

What the current president of the United States is doing is against the letter and spirit of the landmark nuclear deal, the Iranian ambassador to the Balkan state said.

Iran will not accept any change in the JCPOA and the country will not allow relating of other issues, particularly the issue of Iran's defensive missile program, to the nuclear issue, Heidari said.

Iran's missile program is not negotiable and it is in accordance with the country's interests and national security, he stressed.
