Iran eyeing cooperation with Turkey on Halal market: Official

Karaj, Jan 18, IRNA – Iran can be a good partner for Turkey in Halal trades, an Iranian business official said, following his visit to Antalya's business forum with Turkish officials and businesspersons.

Head of Chamber of Commerce in Alborz Province Rahim Banamolaie said on Thursday that at the Turkey's trade forum, held on the sidelines of the 25th international exhibition of food industries, Iranian and Turkish officials, including Antalya's governor and head of Chamber of Commerce, discussed ways to boost trade and investment cooperation.

'Iran is not Turkey's business rival, rather we are interested in cooperation with the country in some spheres, including its Halal market,' he said.

Some suggestions on joint venture and investment on transferring technical knowledge, tourism and building hotels were offered and examined by both sides, Banamolaie said.

Turkey's cooperation in cargo airport of Alborz Special Economic Zone, aimed at boosting air cargo services between Iran and Turkey was another offer to Turkey, he said.

'Iran welcomes investment and cooperation by Turkey in Halal, food and pharamaceutical industries.'

Banamolaie also said that establishing a joint economic committee for Alborz and Antalya Chambers of Commerce.

With the joint committee, the required grounds will be laid for boosting trade and economic relations between the two regions, he said.

Alborz Province with a population of 1.6 million people is bordering Tehran Province.
