Chief: IRNA planning to broaden cooperation with media, universities

Tehran, Jan 18, IRNA – Managing Director of the Islamic Republic News Agency Seyyed Zia Hashemi announced that he is going to connect IRNA to universities in order to reflect the scientific and research achievements of the universities in an acceptable quality.

'IRNA as official media of the Islamic system is ready to have the needed cooperation with the scientific advisors of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology abroad,' Hashemi said in a meeting with Deputy Science, Research and Technology Minister for university student affairs Mojtaba Seddiqi at IRNA's venue on Wednesday night.

IRNA chief said that IRNA is trying to strengthen the status of the universities before the public opinion.

Hashemi said that one of the most important priorities of the country's media is the impact of the Iranian media on the region.

'Foreign media have managed to a great extent act influentially in the region, therefore, we should also try to put more influence on the audience not only inside the country, but at the level of regional and neighboring countries,' IRNA chief added.

Seddiqi, for his part, said that IRNA as an influential media is expected to disseminate the news of the universities much quicker and with better quality as compared with other media.
