Iranian tanker sinks after 8 days of burning

Beijing, Jan 14, IRNA – The Iranian tanker, which caught fire on Jan 6 following a collision with a Chinese freight ship in the East China Sea, sank on Sunday.

The tanker was carrying 11,510 tons of gas condensates.

Although the tanker has already sunk, the condensates are still burning on the surface of waters above the scene.

The tanker had 32 crew members who went missing. Chinese experts say that all the people on board the tanker were dead at the very first hour of the fire.

Three bodies were later found during a rescue operation.

Given the 270-meter length of the tanker and the 110 depth of the sea at the point, experts say if the tanker comes down on its nose, part of it will remain out of the sea.
