Cooling operation underway for Iran oil tanker

Beijing, Jan 14, IRNA – A Japanese ship has started cooling operation on the Iranian tanker which has been burning since Jan 6 on, director general of National Iranian Tanker Company said.

“The operation, started on Saturday night, is still underway with 13 ships from China, South Korea, Japan and Iran,” Sirus Kian Ersi told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Sunday.

“The recue and salvage team will enter the tanker to find the seamen if the conditions are available today,” he said.

The black box which was found on Saturday will be given to officials for encryption.

The dead bodies of three Iranian crew members have so far been found.

The Iranian tanker carrying condensates collided with a Chinese freight ship in East China coast last Saturday, and its 32 crew members, 30 Iranian and two Bangladeshis, went missing.
