Iran to approach 6 countries to put out oil tanker fire

Tehran, Jan 12, IRNA – Minister of Cooperative, Labor and Social Welfare Ali Rabiei said on Friday that it is considering participation of six more countries to help extinguish fire on Iran's oil tanker in East China waters.

'Life of every Iranians is important to us and we are striving round the clock with hope and fear,' Rabiei who in charge of the committee for addressing the incident tweeted.

He said he has urged Chinese ambassador in Tehran to undertake round-the-clock operations to deal with the incident, adding that renting Japanese fireboats to be sent to the site of the incident is among other plans in line with tackling the problem.

He also referred to sending an Iranian relief and rescue experts team to the site.

Rabiei has been assigned by President Hassan Rouhani as the head of the committee to deal with the Iranian oil tanker in the East China Sea.

The tanker collided with a Chinese vessel off East China coast on January 6 and all those on board went missing. It was carrying condensates to South Korea.

Operations to extinguish fire and determine the fate of missing crew members are still continuing.
