Indonesian MP urges Muslims to resolve problems via dialogue

Kuala Lumpur, Jan 12, IRNA – A senior member of Indonesia's parliament said she is attending a parliamentary conference of the Islamic World with the hope that Muslims can find solutions to their problems through cooperation and dialogue.

'I will take part in the coming meeting of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Conference Member States (PUOICM) with the opposing stance to any interference in Iran's internal affairs,' Nour Hayati Ali Al Saggaf head of Inter-parliamentary Committee of Indonesian Parliament said at Jakarta airport on Thursday night before departing for Tehran.

As to the goals of her visit to Iran, the lawmaker said she will represent his people at the meeting of PUOICM with the hope that through engagement with other members, the Islamic World can take steps towards resolving the problems.

Regretting the killing of women and children in wars that have been waged among Muslim countries, including the one in Yemen, the Indonesian legislator said, 'Islam is the religion of peace, and we, as Muslims, have been advised to use dialogue to solve our problems.'

The 13th meeting of PUOICM will be held in Tehran January 13-17 to be hosted by Iran's Parliament (Majlis).

'Iran and Indonesia are both located in Asia, and geographically they are just hours of flight away from each other, so their relations can be boosted, particularly in the economic sphere, to the benefit of the people of the two countries,' the Indonesian lawmaker said on bilateral relations.
