Iran ISI-ESI researchers up 33 percent in 2017: Ministry official

Tehran, Jan 6, IRNA – Data available on the website of the ISI Essential Science Indicators shows that the number top one percent Iranian researchers in the world has experienced a 33-percent rise over the past year, said the research deputy of Iran's Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.

'Since the beginning of 2017, the number of top one percent Iranian researchers has reached 303 from the previous number of 228,' Masoud Boroumand said.

According to Boroumand, the top one percent Iranian researchers are affiliated with the ministries of science, research and technology, health, Agricultural Jahad, Petroleum as well as the Islamic Azad University.

'Forty percent of these researchers are studying in engineering courses and 17 percent in chemistry majors,' he said.
