Regional plans without Iran's role doomed to failure: Envoy

Ahvaz, Jan 4, IRNA – Any measure or plan in the region without considering Iran's role is doomed to failure, the country's envoy to Poland said.

'There were lots of plots aimed at increasing the pressure on Iran and containing its influence in the region,' Ramin Mehmanparast said on Wednesday evening, referring to the creation of the terrorist group Daesh (ISIS) as an example of the attempts to hurt Iran.

'Daesh's defeat in Iraq and Syria turned the page to make Iran an influential country in the region, with a new identity,' said the diplomat who was speaking in a forum at Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz on international developments.

Iran also managed to neutralize the propagandas on its foreign policy to a great extent by the nuclear agreement it signed with the world major powers, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Under the deal Iran accepted to curb its nuclear program in exchange for economic sanctions relief.

'The defensive achievements and the new era enabled Iran to enhance its relations, which was not tolerable to its rivals in the region, so they intensified their conspiracy to the extent that Saudi Arabia, who claims the leadership of Muslim world, is now explicitly speaking of cooperation with the Zionist regime against another Muslim country, Iran,' Mehmanparast said.

All of these efforts are aimed at disrupting Iran's authority and influence both within the country and in the region, he said.
