Much of riots foreign-rooted: Armenian bishop

Isfahan, Dec 3, IRNA – A lot of recent events in Iran are rooted out of the country, said the bishop of southern Iran's Armenians in Isfahan on Wednesday.

'Iran is [like] a big garden, but some people want to set fire to it,' said Bishop Sipan Kashjian.

'I pray to God for more peace and friendship and wish the people and the authorities patience and success,' he said.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Governor-General of Isfahan Mohsen Mehralizadeh while referring to the recent days protests in Iran which have turned violent in some parts due to foreign provocations.

The meeting was held on the occasion of the New Christian Year in Vank Cathedral in the ancient city of Isfahan.

About 7,000 Armenians live in the province of Isfahan.
