Iran's Islamic banking strategic document prepared

Tehran, Jan 3, IRNA – An Iranian official said here on Wednesday the country's Islamic banking strategic document has been drawn up and sent to the Central Bank of Iran to be put in force.

Addressing a local gathering in Tehran, Head of Monetary and Banking Research Institute, Ali Divandari said the document was produced following the Central Bank of Iran's request.

Divandari added the document compiled by Monetary and Banking Research Institute, is aimed at facilitating the application of the principles of Islamic law (also known as Shari'a) in banking system demanded by Iranian people, officials as well as religious leaders.

Divandari said countries with the Islamic banking system publish an annual report on the conformity of their activities with the Shari'a, expressing hope that Iran could do the same in future.
