4.8-magnitude quake rocks SE Iran

Kerman, Jan 3, IRNA - An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale jolted the village of Hojdak near the city of Ravar in southeastern province of Kerman on Wednesday.

According to the report of seismography center affiliated to Tehran University Geophysics Institute, the tremor occurred at 7:43:09 hours local time (04:13:09 hours GMT) and its epicenter was at 57.37 degrees longitude and 30.75 degrees latitude.

Another earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale also jolted the area on December 1.

Over 3,000 tremors have hit Hojdak during the past 6 years.
