Iran speaker urges gov’t to support Holy Quds capital status

Tehran, Dec 27, IRNA – Iran Majlis speaker Ali Larijani called for supporting Holy Quds as the eternal capital of Palestine to foil US President’s conspiracy.

“The decision to relocate US and some other countries’ missions from Tel Aviv to Beit ul-Muqaddas was a conspiracy organized by US President Donald Trump,” Larijani told Majlis public session on Wednesday.

US president's December 6 announcement to recognize Beit-ul Moqaddas as the capital city of Israel has faced extensive criticisms all over the world even from the US allies.

“The move was in line with a fragile compromise by certain Palestinians and a step to tarnish their reputation,” he added.

'The protests lodged by the public toward the issue made the US try to throw a cheap scenario to showcase a piece of iron presumably a rocket debris and claimed it to be part of a missile deployed against Saudi Arabia, accusing Iran of providing Yemen with the missiles.

In fact they aimed to distract public opinion from the dilemma they themselves have created,' said the speaker.

The US representative at the United Nations Nikki Haley recently showcased parts of missile wreckage launched which hit Saudi Arabia and falsely blamed Iran for putting them at disposal of Yemen.

In related news, the Iranian lawmakers, with 198 votes in favor and one abstained, approved Wednesday the outlines of a bill to add an annex to the law on the Islamic Revolution's support for the people of Palestine.

In May 9, 1990, members of the 3rd Iranian Majlis adopted the “Law on the Islamic Revolution’s Support of People of Palestine”.

The Law tasks the Presiding Board of the Islamic Parliament of Iran to “deepen and broaden this support through different methods and convenes representatives of Muslim countries and pundits on appropriate occasions.”

During the Majlis open session this morning, the details of the bill to add an annex to the 1979 Islamic Revolution's law was also approved by 207 votes in favor.
