Iran has mightiest intelligence system in Mideast: Senior official

Tehran, Dec 26, IRNA – The Islamic Republic of Iran enjoys the most powerful intelligence system in the Western Asia, secretary of Iran's Expediency Council said here on Tuesday.

In the post Islamic Revolution era, enemies have been trying in vain to hurt 'our strength and stability,' Mohsen Rezaei said at a national ceremony in which he added, return of strength and stability to Iran is among the achievements gained after the 1979 Revolution.

'Today, we fight with terrorism out of the country's borders, because Iran's power and security are interrelated with those of in the region and in the Muslim countries.'

'If any power independent of the US and the big powers is not formed in the region, we will witness constant weakness,' he added.

Referring to the return of stability and security to Iraq and Syria, Rezaei hoped that State of Palestine will also regain its authority.

He stressed that Iran wants its 'strength and security' for its prosperity. 'Iran will not stop moving toward strength, while the enemies and the arrogant powers claim that the country should not have missiles [to defend itself].'

In November, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said 'Iran's missile program is defensive and not related to the 2015 nuclear deal signed with the six world powers.'
