Land mine blast injures 1 in S. Iran

Dezful, Dec 23, IRNA - Explosion of a landmine, remaining from Saddam era's Iraqi-imposed war (1980-88), in Fakkeh city in southern Iran injured a young person on Saturday, a local official said.

The 16-year-old person was injured on his face and chest, Head of Shush health center Nowruz Savari told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Saturday.

“The accident happened in Fakkeh border lines and about 70 km of Shush, northern Khuzestan.

Despite the fact that land mine areas have been cleared, explosions of mines and other explosive devices remaining from the Iran-Iraq war often cause death and injuries.
