Parliament speaker: Regional countries seeking new ways to tackle terrorism

Tehran, Dec 23, IRNA - Speaker of Iranian Majlis (Parliament) Ali Larijani said regional countries are trying to find new methods to counter terrorism in the Middle East.

Larijani made the remarks prior to his departure for Islamabad to take part in a three-day conference on challenge of terrorism and inter-regional connectivity.

Describing the previous endeavors in fighting terrorism as 'unsuccessful', Larijani said, 'Due to the presence of active agents in the region, the regional countries have to look for new methods to uproot terrorism.'

'In the fight against terrorism,' Larijani said, 'the Islamic Republic of Iran, Russia, China, Afghanistan, Turkey, as well as Pakistan, whose parliaments speakers are attending the conferene in Islamabad, have been sensitive.'

A three-day conference on terrorism is slated to be held with attendance of the above-mentioned countries on December 23-25 in Islamabad.
