Iran, Syria explore swap plans among warring sides

Baku, Dec 22, IRNA – Senior negotiators from Iran and Syria on Friday discussed the issue of detainee and dead body swap among the warring sides in Syria.

Deputy Foreign Minister and Iran's senior negotiator Hossein Jaberi Ansari and Syria's envoy to the UN Bashar al-Jafari explored the issue of swapping prisoner and body by the groups that are involved in the Syrian crisis.

The meeting was the second held under the 8th round of trilateral Syria peace talks in Kazakhstan's Astana.

Bilateral and trilateral talks among guarantors of the ceasefire in Syria — Iran, Russia and Turkey — are underway since Thursday. The talks are aimed at resolving Syria's crisis that began in March 2011.

In this round of talks, delegations of Syrian government, the opposition as well as the observers — the United Nations, US and Jordan — are taking part.
