Iran condemns US move in vetoing Egypt-proposed resolution on Palestine

Tehran, Dec 19, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi denounced US administration’s move to veto the Egypt-proposed resolution in Palestine, describing it an act against international peace and security and in line with trampling upon Palestinian people’s rights.

Referring to US action in vetoing a resolution proposed by Egypt on the Holy Quds (Beit-ul Moqaddas) on Monday, Qasemi said that it was obvious that the US would create obstacles and oppose any plan to hamper the implementation of its recent decision on the Holy Quds given the US antagonistic and racist policies in unilaterally supporting the usurper Zionist regime and regarding the fact that the resolution was the result of efforts made by the Islamic states and presented by the only Arab member of the UN Security Council.

“The US government not only showed its non-commitment to the international resolutions through a provocative and unwise decision to recognize Beit-ul Moqaddas as the capital of the occupying regime, but it hass also proved once more, by vetoing a resolution backed by 14 other members of the UN Security Council, that it is seeking a compromising solution through trampling upon all the Palestinians’ legitimate rights,” Qasemi said.

Reiterating that the US move to recognize the Holy Quds as the Zionist regime’s capital is flagrant violation of international resolutions, the spokesman said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the US actions and urges the international circles and all countries to prevent the implementation of the US decision which will only serve the Zionist regime’s interests and ignite a new fire of sedition in the region.”
