Ship berths in Iran's Astara port, unloads 5600 tons of goods

Astara, Dec 16, IRNA – Head of Ports and Maritime Organization of Astara Port Mahmoud Mir-Nabili said on Saturday that a 140-meter-long ship from Aktau Port in Kazakhstan had berthed in Astara Port for the first time to discharge a shipment of 5,600 tons of steel products.

By dredging Astara Port, there would be no limitation for shuttles of vessels and the port will turn into an important port in the northern part of the country in the near future, Nabili added.

He reminded that 504,029 tons of goods had been exported by 74 ships from Astara to littoral harbors of the Caspian Sea and 90,327 tons of goods have been imported to the port by 75 ships this year.

Astara Port with a population of 91,000 is located in western Gilan province and neighboring Azerbaijan Republic.
