Iranian students shine in World UCMAS

Bushehr, Dec 16, IRNA – Iranian students Amir Hossein Mardani and Bita Afrough ranked first and fourth in UCMAS which is an after school mental arithmetic program for children aged between 4 and 12 years age, an official said.

“The event was held with the attendance of 2,200 participants from 35 countries in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia,” secretary of UCMAS plan in Bushehr Ali Eskandari told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

“Some 166 participants were from Iran,” he added.

UCMAS is not just about solving complex mathematical problems using mental arithmetics. It is about instilling and boosting confidence at that early stage in life. Children start to realize that they can solve more complex problems easily, as compared to others in their age group and sometimes, much beyond their age group. It enables them to look at a mathematical problem in a different way. And teaches them to look at all problems in a different way. Giving them the foundation they need to be successful.
