Ugandan speaker for enhanced ties with Iran

Algiers, Dec 16, IRNA – Speaker of Uganda's Parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga called for active participation of Iranian companies in her country.

Alitwala Kadaga made the remarks Saturday in a meeting with Iranian envoy to Uganda Morteza Mortazavi during which he submitted Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani’s invitation to his Ugandan counterpart.

Kadaga expressed hope for taking a visit to Iran in a mutually convenient date.

Launching the clinic equipped by the private sector, and holding the economic conference with the attendance of Iranian and Ugandan prestigious companies indicate the dynamic nature of ties between the two countries, she said referring to Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif’s recent visit to Uganda.

She also urged Iranian companies to take part in implementing development projects in Uganda especially investing in modernizing agricultural sector and also in implementing infrastructural plans in oil and gas, mines, energy and road construction fields.

Meanwhile, Mortazavi expressed Iran’s readiness for promoting cooperation between the two countries.

He also appreciated Uganda's cooperation with international bodies and the United Nations General Assembly.
