Iran expresses reservation over OIC Summit documents

Tehran, Dec 15, IRNA – Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi on Tursday voiced Iran's reservation over certain clauses in the final documents of the emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Organization (OIC) in Istanbul which implicitly recognized the occupying Zionist regime of Israel.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Qasemi reaffirmed Iran's support to the Palestinians' undisputable rights, saying that backing the resolution issued by OIC foreign ministers as well as final declaration of the emergency meeting of the OIC heads of state in Istanbul, Turkey, is in no way regarded recognition of the occupying Zionist regime by Iran.

Iran's reservation over non-recognition of the Zionist regime was also announced during the meeting in Istanbul and a written version of it was also sent officially to the secretariat of the summit.

The OIC emergency meeting convened on Wednesday when participating countries underlined recognition of Palestine State with the Eastern Quds as its capital.

The meeting attended by representatives of 57 countries was held in reaction to US move to recognize the Holy Quds as the capital of the Zionist regime.

Islamic states warned the would refer the issue to the UN General Assembly in case of the UN Security Council's passivity over the US decision.

In addition to President Hassan Rouhani, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the State of Palestine and Palestinian National Authority Mahmoud Abbas, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Qatari emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and King Abdullah II of Jordan were among the leaders addressing the meeting.
