Lebanon religious leaders against Trump's Quds move

Beirut, Dec 14, IRNA – Muslim, Christian and Druze religious leaders met in the Maronite Church in the Lebanese capital on Thursday to unanimously condemn recent US recognition of holy Al Quds as the Zionist regime capital.

Religious Leader of Lebanese Maronite Christians Bashareh Petros al-Raei described US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize the occupied Al Quds as the new capital of the Zionist regime as a cruel move against the Palestinians, Arabs, Muslims and Christians.

The Maronite leader said that the US action is against the United Nations resolutions and the international laws.
The decision will provoke another Palestinian Intifada (uprising) and a new regional war.

Chairman of the Supreme Council for Lebanese Shia Muslims Sheikh Abd al-Amir Qeblan, on the other hand, condemned the trump's decision on the holy Al Quds (Jerusalem) and went on to praise the stance adopted by the Lebanese president and government in dealing with the issue.

Qeblan also reiterated that the Muslims and Christians should stand together and be united against Washington's move.

Sheikh Abdel-Latif Deryan the Grand Mufti of Lebanon, for his part, said that we have not recognized the state of Israel and will not do so.

Sheikh Deryan described Trump's decision as an aggression against all the divine religions and the dignity of the Arabs, Muslims and Christians.

Moreover, Druze spiritual leader, Sheik al-Aql Naim Hassan, denounced Trump's recent move regarding the occupied Al Quds, saying a civilization unable to provide the Palestinians with a minimum of justice, has no place and sense.

Lebanon in Recent days has witnessed demonstrations by people from different religious and political groups and factions protesting against the Trump's recognition of Al Quds as the capital of the Zionist regime.
