Iran, China to cooperate on common interests, security

Beijing, Dec 13, IRNA – Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces for international and foreign relations Brigadier General Qadir Nezami elaborated on his meeting with Chinese Defense Minister.

Speaking to IRNA on Wednesday, Brigadier General Nezami said that Iran should take bigger steps in cooperation with China within the framework of the common interests, goals and security.

He said the first joint military commission of Iran and China was held in Beijing at the invitation of Chinese defense minister.

Brigadier General Nezami said that in the commission meeting that the two sides discussed outlooks of the cooperation with long- , medium- and short-term plans.

Given Iran's position in West Asia, as a powerful player and considering China's position in the world, naturally there are plenty of capacities in both armed forces in the fields of military, defensive and security for cooperation.

To organize the cooperation the joint commission meeting was held in Beijing.

During the 2-day stay here, the Iranian delegation had good discussion with Chinese defense minister and senior officials of the ministry in relations with military cooperation, marine, aerial, ground force and defensive industry.

The two sides had positive viewpoints for mutual cooperation, which hopefully by continuation of the commission works it could be operational.

He concluded that in the year 2018 different delegations from the two states will be exchanged at the level of expert and the two countries will also hold training and research courses to further broaden cooperation.
