Armenia keen on boosting economic ties with Iran

Tehran, Dec 12, IRNA - Head of Armenia-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group Vahram Baghdasaryan said on Monday that Yerevan is interested to broaden economic relations with Tehran.

In a meeting with Chairman of Majlis Economic Commission Mohammad Reza Pourebrahimi on Monday, Baghdasaryan said, “Economic cooperation and joint investments are important to us, particularly in the energy sector.”

Describing Iran as a significant and influential country in the region, he said, “Establishment of economic security and stability is among the reasons behind our visit to Tehran.”

Economic cooperation and joint investments, especially in the field of energy, oil and gas sector in particular, are significant to Armenia, which is enthusiastic to expand economic relations and cooperation in the sphere.

Pouebrahimi, for his part, evaluated Iran-Armenia growing economic interaction as positive, saying that historical excellent ties between the two neighboring nations serves as a good ground for mutual collaboration in various fields, particularly economic and trade arenas.

Iran and Armenia boast of high capacities for interaction in various fields which can serve as a good basis for collaboration between the two nations, he said.
