Iranian Navy saves Indian sailor

Tehran, Dec 10, IRNA – An Indian sailor was saved from certain death by a helicopter of Iran’s Navy Force near the Farsi Island, north of Persian Gulf, late on Saturday.

According to Commander of Bushehr Naval Base Rear Admiral Babak Amini, a barge boat sailing in the vicinity of Farsi Island in the north of Persian Gulf was disconnected due to adverse climatic conditions from a tugboat which was towing it and faced a critical condition.

After Iran’s Navy received the SOS message, it immediately dispatched a helicopter from Bushehr naval base to the site of the incident.

The Indian sailor was saved by the Iranian rescue team and transferred to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, he said.

The saved sailor who was not named is in Bushehr Hospital for treatment.
