Serbian minister of energy calls Iran world's main energy supplier

Belgrade, Dec 9, IRNA – Minister of Mining and Energy of Serbia Aleksandar Antic in meeting with Head of Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) Mojtaba Khosrotaj on Saturday called Iran as one of the most important world suppliers of oil and gas.

In the meeting, the two sides underlined exchange of know-how and execution of joint venture projects in geology between the two countries.

Khosrotaj pointed to rich mineral resources and oil products in Iran, and said that there are numerous fields for development of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of exploration and extraction of mines, processing mineral products like copper, lead and zinc as well as energy generation, which could be used to promote mutual cooperation level.

Antic pointed to volume of gas consumption in Serbia which is two billion cubic meters now, but by launching new gas power plants its consumption will reach 3.5 billion cubic meters by the year of 2025, and added that Iran may play important role to supply consumers of gas in Serbia.

Referring to rich mineral resources in Serbia, Antic expressed readiness of his country to cooperate with Iran in the fields of technologies related to exploration, extraction and processing of mineral products.

Serbia is one of the richest European countries by minerals and has noticeable resources of coal, copper, gold, lead and zinc.

Around 30 percent of the Serbian oil consumption supplies by domestic resources and the rest imported from abroad.
