Iran communications minister confers with Azeri President

Baku, Dec 5, IRNA – Iran communications minister on Tuesday discussed issues of mutual interest with the president of Azerbaijan Republic.

Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi and President Ilham Aliyev expressed their satisfaction over the successful development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Iran in various areas, including in the field of communications and information technologies.

During the meeting, Aliyev noted that the 23rd Bakutel-2017 exhibition has been held for more than 20 years, and praised Iranian companies` constant participation and representation at this exhibition at ministerial level.

Referring to his recent visit to Iran, he underlined that his meetings with Iran`s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani made a great contribution to the development of the bilateral ties.

The Azeri president said there are good opportunities for expanding cooperation in the field of communications and information technology, and expressed his confidence that fruitful discussions on cooperation prospects will be carried out during the visit of Iranian communications minister, Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) reported.

Iran communication minister, for his part, extended greetings of President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani to President Aliyev.

He also conveyed the Iranian President's gratitude for condolences of Azerbaijan`s president over earthquake in Kermanshah and Azerbaijani people's solidarity with the people of Iran.

The minister stressed that the two countries enjoy successful cooperation in the political, economic and other areas, and expressed hope that these ties will continue to strengthen.

President Aliyev thanked for the greetings by President Rouhani and asked the Iranian comunication minister to extend his greetings to the Iranian President.
